The building of Silkeborg Museum is the oldest one in the city. It was built in 1767 (from 1904 the Museum has been started here). In 1991 the Museum got the new annex.
The exhibition of Silkeborg Museum tells not only about the history of the city, but also about adjoining territory from prehistoric time to now. The special interest is represented with the detailed exposition, devoted to the Iron Age. The basic place of this exposition is Tollund Man (400 B.C.) and Woman from Elling (200 B.C.)
