“Next year the Danish newspaper Berlingske will open a news agency which will become a competitor to the already existing Ritzau agency”, MediaWatch reports.

The literary editor of newspaper”Berlingske Tiderne” prepared a big biography of Queen Margrethe II.  Her Majesty contributed personally with stories about her nearly forty decade’s regency.

As of 1 November 2011 visitors of Danish libraries can rent e-books from the Internet and download them to computer, Tablet PC, or Smartphone. Gyldendal Publishing House and 54 other publishers made an agreement with public libraries.

New kindergarten with the wonderful title "Solar House" will be built in the Danish city Hørsholm. They will be yet another example of the use of modern technologies in the construction of environmentally sound buildings. Kindergarten is the first that actually produces energy. The creators of this project is the company Christensen & Co.

A four-centimeter bronze plate with a horse engraved was found at Tisso (dan. Tissø). Archaeologists are wondering if the plate was an object of worship at the Viking Age.

The Fyrkat fortress is currently under construction, that will improve the approach to the fortress. This fortress of the Viking Age was opened for more than 50 years ago, and this is very popular place for visitors.

In Moesgaard Museum of Prehistory (Aarhus) a new building is being constructed. It will open to visitors from 1 June 2014. For this reason the Museum plans to close all current exhibitions on 1 October 2012.

There is  a prejudice that artists, people though creative, are not accustomed to discipline. They would just grab something from the public treasury and spend it on implementing their more or less understandable ideas. There is another prejudice, according to which private  culture  funding  should be avoided. This is because culture will then depend on fundings and artistic freedom will be out of the question.

Most of the municipalities (kommuner) of Denmark are going to make cuts to libraries again, which will influence the employees, books procurement, and opening hours.
