Festivals and Holidays in Denmark

Exotic atmosphere, pulsating rhythm, carnival and mystique! Brazil is known around the world for its spectacular carnival. However, you can expereince the carnival atmosphere in Denmark as well. In 1982 four Aalborg locals decided to create a carnival in Aalborg – the capital of Northern Jutland. A year later, May 1983, Aalborg Carnival was a reality.

The exhibition officially known as the «The Imaginary Kingdoms» by the fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen was opened in Romano of Palazzo Museum April 13, 2012 in Rome, Italy. The event was attended by Queen Margrethe II during her official state visit in Italy.

Beer lovers should start looking forward to May 11th and 12th 2012 as a new festival for beer and gourmet fanatics will open its doors in Copenhagen, Denmark. The festival is dubbed Copenhagen Beer Celebration and is founded by Danish brewery Mikkeller alongside a variety of local and international breweries and distributors.

Every year the Roskilde Festival introduces the rising stars of the Scandinavian music stage and becomes a start-up platform to success for new young exponents. The stage of the Festival Youth Pavilion is granted annually into the disposition of the gifted young people.

From 4 to 6 May 2012 the «Copenhagen Ink Festival» will take place in Copenhagen. This is the second festival, which gathers lovers of tattoos and body art. The first «Copenhagen Ink Festival» was held in 2011 in the TAP1 room of the Danish brewery "Carlsberg". That festival was so successful that almost immediately received wide acclaim and became the biggest tattoo event in Scandinavia.

Copenhagen Pix Festival started from April 11, 2012 and will take place til April 29, 2012. With 18 days of of fiction, the film festival, Copenhagen Pix, is the largest Danish event for movie lovers. As a central pillar in Danish film culture, Copenhagen Pix is the place for the most significant, the craziest, the best and the most overwhelming films, which do not otherwise find a broad Danish release.

Aalborg Congress & Culture Centre invites the city’s citizens and guests to Spring Fair, open from 23 till 25 March 2012 in Danish city Aalborg.
