Adolf Ditlev Jorgensen Adolf Ditlev Jorgensen (June 11, 1840 – October 5, 1897) was a Danish historian.

Was born in Northern Schleswig. Finished school in Flensburg, studied Science, then History, Philosophy and Literature in the University of Copenhagen. Returned to Flensburg in 1863 where he worked as a teacher and a librarian but a year after when Flensburg had become a part of Prussia following the First Schleswig War found himself in Copenhagen again. Since 1869 he worked in the Danish State Archives which he later became the head of.

Published «Bidrag til Nordens Historie i Middelalderen» (1871); «Den Nordiske Kirkes Grundlaeggelse» (1874 — 1878); «40 Fortaellinger af Faedrelandets Historie» (1882; 2nd edition, 1886); «Udsigt over de danske Rigsarchivers Historie» (1884) and a number of biographical books: «Georg Zoega» (1881); «Niels Stensen» (1884); «Johannes Ewald» (1888) etc.
