Danish archaeologists continue to search for the first church in Denmark, which in 850's King Horik allowed to build Ansgar in Ribe, - informs "Kristeligt Dagblad".In the past numerous archaeological excavations in Denmark's oldest cities, celebrating this year its 1300-year anniversary, has still not been able to find the remains of a temple which could be built Ansgar. But archaeologists hopes on new excavations near the cathedral of Ribe (Ribe Domkirke), which will be held in the fall the Museum of South Jutland. Thus, there may be signs of early Christianity, discovered during excavations in the conflagration of the cathedral in 2009. - We do not know exactly whether there was ever a church Ansgar, but during the excavations in 2009 at a depth of four feet the first time we found the remains of Christian graves of the Vikings, and in all likelihood they had links with the church building - the museum tells the inspector Klaus Fevale (Claus Feveile) newspaper "Kristeligt Dagblad". Finds from the cathedral indicate that the church was probably built Ansgar nearby, perhaps, that the cathedral was built over a specified Ansgar missionary church. Construction of this cathedral in Ribe was started in the mid 12 th century and completed about 100 years later. The cathedral is the oldest cathedral in Denmark and best-preserved Romanesque cathedral in Scandinavia. If Ansgar and built a church, it means that she has appeared in more than 100 years before Harald Bluetooth in his large stone in Jelling , said that he had united Denmark and made the Danes Christians.
