Odense is situated on the island of Funen and is one of the most ancient cities of Denmark that had its 1000th anniversary. In 1086 in Odense King Knud the Saint was killed in St. Knud`s Cathedral and it made the city a great attraction for pigrims throughout the Middle Ages. Afterwards the city earned fame thanks to the famous Danish storyteller Hans Christian Andersen, born here and walking along this city.Odense is the third largest city in Denmark. Odense is not only a center of shipbuilding and a seaport, but also a center of steel, iron, wood, electrical and textile industries production. For many tourists Odense is attractive not only with Hans Christian Andersen Museum, “The Funen Village” Museum, Carl Nielsen Museum and Odense City Museums, but also with its pedestrian streets, cosy cafes and restaurants, street theatres, concerts and festivals held here.
