At February 2010 the organizers of Oscar Ceremony said, that Lone Scherfig English language "An Education" was among the 10 nominees for the Oscar for best film in 2009, said Oscar organizers. The female lead holder in the film, Carey Mulligan, was also nominated for best actress.Scherfig film has already received several international film prizes and have gained recognition in the US where the film among other has won the audience award at Sundance Film Festival in Utah, and been called "a miracle" by the legendary Rolling Stone magazine, said Nordisk Film in a press release. It is the documentary "Burma VJ" by director Anders Ostergaard, who has been nominated. The film is about a group of reporters, who in 2007 documenting the popular revolt, which led Buddhist monks against the military junta in Burma. The film, which consists of small video clips from mobile phones and handheld cameras, has so far won 40 film prizes in the world. In the category of best short film is filmmaker Joachim Backs film "The New Tenants" with screenplay by Anders Thomas Jensen, who vie for the coveted statuette. The film is made by the Danish M & M Productions in cooperation with an American company and got the Oscar at the ceremony, which took place in Los Angeles at 7th of March 2010.
