Odense City Museums celebrate 150 years |

In this anniversary year Odense City Museums have decided to further focus on the history of the city and Fyn island, where is Odense located. May 14, 1860 in the newspapers "Fyens Avis" and "Fyens Stiftstidende" came the announcement of the formation of community to found a museum in Odense. July 19 of the same year the museum community has been created. One year later it was lead to the creation of the first museum in Odense, entitled Nordisk Museum. At its base in the next 150 years Odense City Museums (Odense Bys Museer) have grown. November 1, 2010 is also the significant date. 100 years ago was opened Ethnographic Museum of Fyn (Fyns Folkemuseum), which illuminates the historical collections of Odense and all Denmark. Before the Museum was located in Nerregade (Nørregade), and after it has been moved to Mentegaaden (Møntergården). In an extensive program of jubilee, which is scheduled from April to December, the inhabitants of the Fyn island and visitors can learn about the history and museum work of seven museums under the common title "Museum of all time 1860-2010".
