Statistical Bureau in Denmark (StatBank Denmark) has counted that popularity as a holiday resort in the country, judging by European tourists and visitors, has drastically fell last year.In 2010 amount of overnight stays in summer holiday houses has declined compared to 2009 by 5 percent to 13.9 million. The biggest loss of tourists coming to Denmark are Germans and they are the main visitors for Danish tourist industry. They consist 60-70 percent of all visitors coming to Denmark. According to the Statistical Bureau in Copenhagen, in 2010 Germans had stayed overnight in rented Danish houses by 4 percent less rather than in 2009 - as a total number of overnights 9,3 million only. Sociologists and marketers state, that Denmark popularity is falling due to the end of the first flow of tourists from Eastern Germany ( Federal Republic of Germany), who were actively spending their holidays in Denmark. Other reason that pushing away from spending holidays in Jutland and Danish Islands is an image of Denmark as an expensive and " boring country". There's only 15 percent of all tourists coming to Denmark in age group 18-25. Translated by Anna Millionova Original text, photo: Information Agency InterRight |
