Mosgaard Museum builds a new building |

Mosgaard Museum started to built the new long-planned building for exhibitions. In 2005 an architectural competition won «Henning Larsen Architects» in cooperation with «Landskabsarkitekt Kristine Jensens Tegnestue». In subsequent work on the project engineering services were provided by «COWI». October 12, 2010 have been a tender for construction. The winners are two companies - «MT Højgaard» and «Lindpro», with whom a contract was signed.The total cost of new construction is 345 million Danish kroner, obtained through funds VELUX, VILLUM and OAK, Augustine Fund, University of Aarhus, the Municipality of Aarhus and the Ministry of Culture. The new building with total area of more than 15 thousand square meters. km. will be located north of the current museum building. The main focus of the Museum is aimed at the following exhibitions: Old Denmark, Middle Ages, Ethnography, Persian Gulf, as well as a large exhibition hall for temporary exhibitions. In addition, the building will include a variety of rooms for seminars, etc. The building also will be set aside space for the staff of the Aarhus University and Mosgaard Museum. Museum Director Jan Skamby Madsen in his interview to Historie Online says that the new museum building will get an ideal environment to implement many ideas and thoughts that have accumulated over the years.
