April 16, 2011 Margrethe II, Queen of Denmark celebrates her 71-year anniversary. The traditional parade, which takes place annually at the Amalienborg Palace Square in honor of the birthday of Her Majesty, today was not held because the Queen celebrates her birthday at the Palace Marselisborg in Aarhus, where she spent her holidays. But citizens of Aarhus were lucky because they were able to congratulate the Queen personally. At 11 am the public wishing to send their greetings to Her Majesty, can go to the garden Slotshaven, near to the Palace Marselisborg. At 12 o'clock the Royal Life Guards marched in front of the Palace, after which the Royal Couple and other members of the Royal Family came to the porch to greet the audience. The ruling Queen of Denmark Margrethe II (Margrethe Alexandrine Þórhildur Ingrid) - Head of the Danish state from January 14, 1972. She is enormously popular among Danes, thanks to her broad outlook and areas of interest, including archeology, art, theater, literature. |
