Gyldendal will cooperate with Google

A large number of books published by the Danish publishing house «Gyldendal» can now be found using the world's largest search portal Google.

 

The new agreement between the publisher «Gyldendal» and search giant means that users can find books of the Publishing House in the Internet , read 20% of them and buy them by link to Google Books.

Stig Andersen, executive director of the publishing house «Gyldendal», expects the agreement will be mutually beneficial for both publishers and for authors.

"The partnership agreement with Google gives us an interesting strategic opportunity to ensure that both new names, and all our huge catalog of books became available to people around the world. We anticipate that this will help increase sales, and we believe that the agreement would be beneficial for both publishers and authors, "- says Stig Andersen in a press release.

A year ago, the publishing house «Gyldendal» was among the publishers, who through the Danish Writers' Association criticized the so-called settlement of Google. The settlement means that Google, without obtaining a permit can earn money by displaying all the books - including the Danish and European - as they have been scanned from American libraries. Google has had this opportunity until recently concluded an agreement under which the sale may be made through the online bookstore.

The Danish Writers' Association is satisfied with this agreement.
