The second edition of Sculpture by the Sea, Aarhus has opened with 65 sculptures by artists from 22 countries along the bay, beach and in the forest of Aarhus. There are some stand out pieces including works by Hiroaki Nakayama (Japan), Vaclav Fiala (Czech Republic), Keld Moseholm (Denmark), The Glue Society (Australia), Chen Wen Ling (China), Tim Prentice (USA), Karin van der Molen (Holland) and Phil Price (New Zealand). The opening itself was also a spectacular with the attendance of TRH Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark along with thousands of people to hear Crown Princess Mary open the exhibition in her fluent Danish - very impressive! The enthusiasm of the Danish people for the Royal couple is something to see, as is the enthusiasm of the Royal couple for the exhibition, with an unscheduled extension of their tour. Many of the international artists came to Aarhus to join their Danish colleagues and were feted by party after party and the tens of thousands of visitors who visited the show over the first weekend in gorgeous sunshine...
