102 decorative elephant statues of different colours had been brightening Copenhagen streets for three months. On 10 September they were sold at auction organized for saving the endangered Asian elephant. There was raised 4.2 million DKK.“We have worked on these elephants for two years. About one million people have seen them, and now they have been sold for more than 4 million DKK”, Timm Mehrens, The Elephant Parade Copenhagen organizer said. The Elephant Parade has become one of the largest charity art auctions in Denmark. Such artists as Marco Evaristti, Leif Sylvester, and Kasper Koebke participated. Leif Sylvester’s elephant appeared to be the most profitable and was sold for 170.000 DKK. Prince Henrik of Denmark became the Patron of The Elephant Parade. The following organizations also took part in the project: Koebenhavn Zoo (Copenhagen Zoo), Dyrenes Beskyttelse (Animal Protection), and Post Danmark (Post of Denmark).
