On 24 September 2011 for the fourth year in a row in Saint Petersburg, Europe Day festival will take place. The festival is organized by Delegation of the European Commission to Russia in cooperation with consulates general and cultural centres of EU countries.The program includes public debate and discussion on current topics; open days at consulates and cultural centres, concerts, exhibitions, master classes, film shows, as well as contests and quizzes. As part of Europe Day, The Danish Cultural Institute holds Open Day which includes the following events: 12:00 Guest Welcome and Presentation “Denmark: history, culture and society” followed by the show of documental film “Discover Denmark” 13:30 Show of feature shorts, diploma works of graduates of the National Film School of Denmark (with Russian subtitles) 16:00 Danish animated films show (with Russian subtitles) Guests will have the opportunity to see works of the Danish artists of press “A Queen – A Democracy”, devoted to the 25th anniversary of reign of Queen Margrethe II in 1997. 13:30 Children’s library of the foreign literature (8, 3-ya Sovetskaya st.) opens translation workshop “Still baby, already translator. I am watching and translating”, for children from 7 to 11 A Danish lesson for beginners will be given by The Danish Cultural Institute at The European Fair at “Carnival” Concert Hall in The Anichkov Palace (39, Nevsky prospect). In the “Children’s Corner”, children will be invited for a picture cards master class, organized by Senior School (Shkola Tretiego Vozrasta) supported by The Danish Cultural Institute.
