A big Russian camp covering 2000 square meters is planned to be built in Tivoli amusement park in Copenhagen, with a replica of Saint Basil’s Cathedral on the Red Square in Moscow. This Russian theme will replace the current Pixie Town (Nissekøbing) starting from 11 November 2011.The Russian ride with 21-meter high church tower having onion domes, with chimes and the Russian version of Santa Claus, is supposed to increase the Tivoli Park attendance rate. A quick glance at the Tivoli balance sheet 2006-2010 shows that the idea of new rides is good indeed, and it can bring profit. The semi-annual financial report for 2011 as well as the one for 2010, shows loss of the Park. Nevertheless, according to the semi-annual report for the previous year the loss in 2010 was 6 million Danish kroner bigger than this year. Thus, 2011 results seem to be much better than those of the year 2010. A decrease in the Park attendance by foreign tourists astonished Tivoli Administration. This decline also astounds Danish tourist offices. High prices and taxes might be the reason for foreign tourists to prefer other European countries. Translated by Elena Kandaurova |
