ЛуизианаLouisiana was the first Scandinavian museum to let people enjoy art on weekdays, four evenings a week. That was a farsighted concept.

The successful Picasso exhibition, humid summer with beautiful architecture exhibition, and Louisiana is definitely close to getting the highest number of visitors in all its 53-year-old history.

“It is expected that this week after the museum has opened a colorful autumn exhibition of Paul Klee and Cobra group’s works, the number of visitors will exceed 495 thousand people”, Frederiksborg Amts Avis newspaper writes.

If everything goes that good in the last quarter of the year as it did in the previous three quarters, the number of visitors might exceed 660 thousand people. It is 20 thousand people more than it was in the legendary year of 1994 when Monet’s works were exhibited in the museum.

“The main thing is that Louisiana evening hours became incredibly popular”, Poul Erik Toejner, director of the museum, says about the change of schedule made in 2008.

The fact that Louisiana was the first museum in Scandinavia to let people admire art works on weekdays, four evenings a week, helped decrease the rush at weekend and increase the turnover of the museum café. After the repair was done in the café there are no longer huge queues there, which the visitors had been tired of, for more than ten years. Furthermore, the museum shop was also reconstructed.

“Though 250 thousand people have seen the Picasso exhibition, it is not only this exhibition which attracted all the visitors; it is all the other ones we have had during the year, as well as lots of other events we’ve made. This is more Louisiana like than Monet’s Year when it was Monet only which attracted 448 thousand people”, Poul Erik Toejner says in an interview with Frederiksborg Amts Avis.
