In Moesgaard Museum of Prehistory (Aarhus) a new building is being constructed. It will open to visitors from 1 June 2014. For this reason the Museum plans to close all current exhibitions on 1 October 2012.The exhibits of the Museum are already being preparing to be moved. Apart from those objects which will be presented to the public for the first time, the visitors will also be able to see all the wide range of the unique findings belonging to the Museum they can see now. This includes The Grauballe Man and sacrificial weapon from Illerup valley. However, in future the exhibits will be exposed in an absolutely different way. Therefore, conservators and archeologists of the Museum will work on the objects before exhibiting them; they will clean the exhibits and think of a new way of installing them. This is the reason why the Museum will shut to the public October 2012 through May 2014, which is longer than one and a half year. Yet, temporary closure of the exhibitions does not mean that the Museum will shut down. In the vicinity of the Museum there will still be organized different events. The Viking Museum (Vikingemuseet) which is located in the very centre of Aarhus, and archaeological diggings carried out by the Moesgaard Museum, will be given special attention. Marina V.
