The museum Den Gamle By (The Old Town) in Aarhus opens special courses for children, teenagers, and grown-ups with an immigrant background. Project manager Christin Vesterager Clausen says that many grandparents visiting the Old Town together with their grandchildren immersed into recollections and told their life stories. “It would be wonderful if children of immigrants could have the same experience thanks to their parents and grandparents’ stories,” the project manager said in his interview with DR Kultur. No doubt, The Old Town rooms inspire a lot of parents to tell about their childhood. At the same time children can see the connection between these stories and what they see in the Museum, and their everyday school life. Christin Vesterager Clausen believes the Old Town is a special place; it is like a mirror reflecting life stores. It is The Old Town which can become a source of inspiration for the parents’ stories that their children have never heard before. Translated by Elena Kandaurova By materials of DR.dk |
