Painter and sculptor Nils Erik Gjerdevik got three huge high-voltage towers, each 42 metres high weighing a good 9 tons. The pylons will be a part of the project which Gjerdevik is planning to implement in the Trekant area (Vejle Fjord, Kolding Fjord, and Lillebaelt) under the competition “Our art” (“Vores Kunst”), held under the aegis of DR (Denmark’s radio).Denmark’s most high-powered electric towers with a voltage of 400 kV are still standing in North Jutland at the seven-kilometre section of the highway along the Limfjord, between Gistrup and power plant Nordjyllandsvaerket. Twenty nine towers will be taken away as useless. Therefore, twenty six out of them will be dismantled and delivered as scrap metal. Energy operator Energinet.dk will donate the other three to Nils Erik Gjerdevik. Translated by Elena Kandaurova Original text, photo: DR.dk |
